Dimples Day Nursery support SEND in Eary Years

The number of children with SEND attending Dimples Day Nursery has progressively increased over the years, as has been the case with Nurseries and Schools across the country. This ranges from low levels such as speech and language delay to more complex needs. Dimples have a good reputation for supporting all children and as such, they are often recommended to parents of children with SEND. They have recently installed new equipment into their dedicated SEND provisions to support these needs with the help of M.O.E. exclusive products.

With an increase in SEND across the UK, childcare providers and schools are seeing this impact and often find that managing these numbers presents a big challenge. Many are creating dedicated areas such as sensory rooms and adapting learning and resources to offer the required support.

In response to this increased demand for dedicated resources, M.O.E. are extending their product range to offer further SEN and sensory equipment, most recently designed with the support of SNAP Charity, building on their experience and vast knowledge to offer solutions to support both children and staff. From their new ‘wiggle chair’ which aids comfort and self-regulation whilst increasing attention spams and learning, to exclusive sensory and resistance walls which can be used from Early years through to KS2.

“It is fantastic to see such dedication to producing equipment which aligns to children’s needs. Whilst the wiggle chair may look like many other children’s chairs, it hides a unique secret which opens a door to sensory benefits. We utilised the wiggle chair at our SNAP centre and observed several children enjoy the advantages of increased focus and comfort whilst completing tasks”.

Dimples Day Nursery have recently added the resistance wall to their offering, SENCO Amber McKenzie observes,

“Already we have seen this wall help all children, with and without SEND, to self-regulate. It also meets the sensory needs of lots of our SEND children, and it is fun too. The children have loved using the new resistance wall, the tension band works brilliantly for one child in particular when they are full of energy and tension that they need to get out.”

Recognising that resources offer support to all children in their unique way also encourages social benefits, understanding and inclusivity. Dimples Day Nursery Director, Sandra Roles said,

“Inclusivity is something that should be the norm so having access to resources that cater for all children’s needs is essential and we welcome new products that help us to fully support our children.”

M.O.E. are continuously adding new items to their vast catalogue, the options to build something bespoke to meet specific requirements has proven invaluable for many childcare providers and the team love a challenge! M.O.E. Director Ashley Wilson stated,

“We are committed to building products for multi-use benefits, every child deserves the opportunity to be themselves and we welcome opportunities to build on this success and extend our portfolio”.
